Cloud Migration Guide
Atlassian has announced the End of Life (EOL) for Confluence Data Center and Server products.
If you are using Task Reminder for Confluence Data Center, you can manually migrate your configuration to Task Reminder for Confluence Cloud.
This guide explains how to migrate your email and Slack reminder settings step by step, and highlights differences between both versions.
Prerequisites
Before starting the migration, make sure you have:
A Confluence Data Center (or Server) instance with Task Reminder installed
A Confluence Cloud instance
Confluence admin permissions on both instances
The latest version of Task Reminder installed on both sides
Step 1: Move Your Confluence Content to Cloud
To migrate your Confluence spaces and content to Cloud, please refer to Atlassian’s official Confluence Cloud Migration Guide:
Once your Confluence content has been migrated, continue with the steps below to recreate your Task Reminder configuration in Confluence Cloud.
Step 2: Manually Migrate Email Settings
On Your Data Center Instance
Go to Confluence Administration → Task Reminder → Email Settings.
Keep this page open for reference (e.g., in another browser tab).
On Your Cloud Instance
Go to Confluence Administration → Task Reminder → Email Settings.
Recreate the settings from your DC instance as follows:
Setting | How to Configure in Cloud | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Who should receive email reminders | Select users or groups as in DC | Some advanced targeting options are not available in Cloud |
When should Task Reminder send email reminders | Choose schedule from dropdown fields | In Cloud, cron expressions have been replaced by simplified scheduling options |
What spaces should be searched for unresolved tasks | Configure directly in Cloud | This is a new Cloud-only feature; no migration needed |
What tasks should be included | Match configuration from DC | Same behavior supported |
Email template customization | Configure in Email Settings | Available in both DC and Cloud |
Task Reminder for Cloud comes with a streamlined, easy-to-use scheduling system and built-in permission management. You'll also get access to Cloud-only features like space-based filtering, customizable email templates, and automatic updates - no manual upgrades needed.
Step 3: Manually Migrate Slack Settings
On Your Data Center Instance
Go to Confluence Administration → Task Reminder → Slack Settings.
Keep this page open for reference.
On Your Cloud Instance
Go to Confluence Administration → Task Reminder → Slack Settings.
Recreate your Slack configuration as follows:
Setting | How to Configure in Cloud |
|---|---|
Slack workspace connection | Reconnect your Slack workspace in Cloud |
Who should receive Slack reminders | Select users or channels |
When should Slack reminders be sent | Choose schedule from the dropdown fields |
What tasks should be included | Match your previous Data Center configuration |
Step 4: Final Step: Test Your Configuration
After recreating your email and Slack settings in Confluence Cloud, we recommend testing your configuration.
Check for the next scheduled reminder run to verify your configuration
Verify that email reminders are sent correctly
Confirm that Slack notifications are delivered to the expected channels or users
You did it! 🎉 Your Task Reminder is now running in the Cloud. Your reminders will be delivered on schedule, just like before.
What's next? Now that you're on Cloud, check out some features that weren't available in Data Center:
Custom email templates - personalize the look and feel of your reminder emails
Space-based filtering - choose exactly which spaces to include in your reminders
